The Visual Reportage of José Guadalupe Posada
This exhibition proposal surveys the career of the Mexican artist José Guadalupe Posada, examining the sensational, political and satirical impulses that shaped his work.The exhibition strategy attempts to place Posada's politically charged work within a historical context while also showing the continued influence of his broadsides on various contemporary vernaculars. The visual language of the exhibition is drawn from street postings, the original method in which Posada's work was displayed.
